Can-Am is making several changes across its sport UTV lineup for the new model year, with transmission, braking, suspension and cabin updates leading the way. The 2027 Can-Am Maverick Updates cover the Maverick R, Maverick X3, Maverick Sport and Maverick Trail families, with some of the most significant changes coming to the Maverick R lineup.

Rather than introducing an entirely new Maverick platform, Can-Am is refining its existing sport UTVs for 2027. The changes include expanding its latest dual-clutch transmission across the Maverick R lineup, improving braking components on the Maverick R and X3, and adding several comfort and protection upgrades. Maverick Trail and Maverick Sport buyers will also have another package option for the new model year.

The biggest mechanical change for 2027 is found throughout the Maverick R lineup. Every Maverick R model will now come equipped with Can-Am’s second-generation Rotax dual-clutch transmission.
The updated DCT initially appeared in the Maverick R X rc and Maverick R MAX and will now become standard across the entire Maverick R family. One of its most important changes is the addition of an Extra-Low gear designed for better power delivery when tackling slower and more technical terrain.
That addition should be particularly useful in situations where outright horsepower and speed aren’t the priority. Rock crawling, steep climbs and other low-speed obstacles put different demands on a drivetrain than running across an open desert, and the lower gearing gives Maverick R drivers another option for controlling the machine in those conditions.
Can-Am also reinforced components inside the second-generation transmission to support the additional torque. The Maverick R’s turbocharged Rotax engine produces 240 horsepower, making drivetrain strength and power delivery an important part of the overall package.

Maverick R and Maverick X3 Updates
The transmission isn’t the only change coming to the Maverick R. All 2027 Maverick R and Maverick X3 models receive integrated window nets. The new setup gives the cockpit a more finished, race-inspired appearance while also providing additional protection from wind, dirt and debris entering the cabin.
Can-Am is also changing the brake lines on both Maverick platforms. Stiffer steel-braided front and rear brake lines will be standard on all 2027 Maverick R and Maverick X3 models.
Steel-braided lines are designed to reduce expansion in the brake line under pressure, resulting in a more direct connection between the brake pedal and calipers. Can-Am says the change improves braking performance, making it a worthwhile update on two machines built around high-performance driving.

2027 Can-Am Maverick X3 Updates
The Maverick X3 receives a few additional changes of its own for 2027.
All Maverick X3 models will now be equipped with door fillers designed to improve cabin sealing. It’s a relatively small change, but one that should help reduce the amount of dirt, dust and outside elements entering the cockpit during a day on the trail.
Can-Am is also adding a full roof as standard equipment on Maverick X3 RS and DS models. That means buyers of those versions won’t immediately need to add a roof after bringing the machine home.
Changes underneath the X3 include double-bonded bushings in the front suspension. According to Can-Am, the updated bushings are intended to reduce suspension squeaking while also cutting down on maintenance.

Maverick Trail and Maverick Sport X Packages
The 2027 Can-Am Maverick Updates didn’t forgot about its narrower trail-focused machines for 2027. The X package will be available on both the Maverick Trail and Maverick Sport, adding several factory-installed upgrades for riders who want a more complete trail setup.
The X package includes LED lighting, full doors and a roof on both platforms. Maverick Sport X models also receive enhanced suspension components.
Bringing the X package to these models gives buyers another option between a base machine and adding accessories individually after purchase. Full doors, a roof and upgraded lighting are common additions to trail UTVs, so having them installed as part of a factory package simplifies the process.

More Refinement for the 2027 Maverick Lineup
The 2027 Can-Am Maverick Updates are more about refinement than a complete overhaul of the company’s sport UTV lineup. For Maverick R buyers, the biggest news is the second-generation Rotax DCT becoming standard across every model, bringing Extra-Low gearing and reinforced transmission components throughout the lineup.
Maverick R and Maverick X3 models also benefit from the new steel-braided brake lines and integrated window nets, while the X3 picks up improved cabin sealing, suspension bushings and standard roofs on RS and DS models.
Farther down the lineup, the addition of the X package to the Maverick Trail and Maverick Sport gives trail riders another factory-equipped choice for 2027. Taken together, the changes address the drivetrain, braking, suspension and everyday usability without changing the basic formula behind Can-Am’s Maverick lineup.
